Ideas for home
Simple baby sensory activities you can do today
Sensory play just means exploring with the senses: looking, listening, touching. You don’t need special kit. Here are easy ideas using things you probably already have, and where Glowbug fits in.
Things to look at
- Bubbles blown slowly near (not at) your baby’s face
- A torch moving gently across the ceiling in a darkened room
- Light through a glass of water or a coloured scarf
- Leaves moving on a tree from the pram
Things to listen to
- A soft shaker made from a sealed bottle with rice
- Humming or singing the same simple tune
- Tapping a wooden spoon on different (safe) surfaces
- Rain on the window
Things to touch
- A basket of safe fabrics: silk, wool, cotton, a soft brush
- Water play in a shallow tray, always supervised
- Crinkly paper or a clean, empty cereal box
Where Glowbug fits
Glowbug is a digital take on the same idea: a quiet world where your little one’s touch makes something gentle happen. It is best as one small part of a day full of real-world play, enjoyed together, in short sessions.
Try Bubble Dreams after real bubble play, or Moonlight Magic as a calm moment before bed.
