Safety & privacy
Safety and privacy, in plain words
Glowbug was designed with children in mind from the start. This page explains exactly what it does and does not do.
What we collect
Nothing about your child, ever. There is no child profile and no advertising or third-party trackers. On the website’s grown-up pages we count visits anonymously with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and stores nothing that identifies you. Nothing is counted inside Child Mode.
Glowbug works fully without an account. If a grown-up chooses to create one (to use Glowbug Plus or keep settings on several devices), we store only their email address, their subscription status and, for Plus, their parent settings. Payments are handled by Stripe (cards), PayPal or, in India, Razorpay (UPI and cards); Glowbug never sees or stores card, bank or UPI details. You can delete your account at any time from the account page, which removes this data.
What stays on your device
Your parent settings (session length, sensory level, sound and which worlds are on) and a short summary of the last session are saved in your browser’s local storage, on this device only. Clearing your browser data removes them.
What Glowbug never asks for
- Names or photos
- Microphone or camera access
- Contacts
- Location
- Notifications
Inside Child Mode
- No ads, pop-ups or notifications
- No external links and no way to reach a browser address bar from the play area
- No purchases, prices, locks or sign-in prompts of any kind
- No flashing effects or sudden loud sounds; every sound is softly limited
- A grown-up exit that needs a two-second press-and-hold
Sharing
The “Share Glowbug” button only ever shares a link to this website. It never shares anything about your child or how they played.
Honest about what it is
Glowbug is a calm, playful sensory experience. It is not a medical, developmental, educational or therapeutic product and makes no such claims. If you have questions about your child’s development, please speak to a health professional.
